Welcome!
I’m Alie, and I’m a PhD researcher at the University of Virginia. I use marine sediment cores and the water stored in those sediments to answer questions about what Antarctica’s glaciers did in the past.
For more on my current work at UVA, check out the research page.
Curious about marine-based field work in the Antarctic? An Instagram Q&A on my recent field season can be found here!
When I’m not in the lab covered in mud or in the classroom leading geology labs, you can find me backpacking in Shenandoah NP, in the kitchen baking for my lab group, at the gym throwing weights around, or enjoying local Monticello wine at a nearby vineyard!
